How to use it

  1. Press 1 on any page. The toolbar icon turns purple and your cursor becomes a crosshair.
  2. Hover. The element under your pointer is outlined, with its name and size.
  3. Click it.
  4. Switch to Figma and press V.

You get real Figma layers — editable text, auto layout, images, vectors, shadows and gradients. Not a screenshot.

Troubleshooting

"Handpick needs an https page"

Conversion relies on a browser feature that only exists on secure pages. Plain http:// sites cannot be captured. localhost works.

"Copied — 1 asset skipped"

An image could not be retrieved, usually because the site blocks access to it from anywhere but its own pages. The rest of the element still converted; only that image is missing.

"Couldn't copy this element"

The element could not be converted. Try selecting its parent with , or a smaller part of it. Canvas-based and WebGL content has no underlying structure to convert.

The shortcut does nothing

Click the page once so it has focus, then try again. In Chrome, check the shortcut is assigned at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. In Safari, check Settings → Extensions.

Fonts look wrong in Figma

Handpick uses the page's own font files where it can reach them. If the site restricts access, it falls back to the closest open-source match.
